Onion As A Medicinal Herb. Have You Tried It?

Onions.
Scientifically known as: Allium cepa L. (Liliaceae).
We've all heard that onions are healthy.
Some of us like them.
Some of us don't.
You can look at the benefits of onions with claims all over the internet for what they do and do and do (there's more 'do's' than 'don't do's' out there).
How many of those claims are actually true?
There's a couple of ways to find out.
1. Research some of the studies.
2. Become your own case study and try them for yourself.
So let's start with a little research.
Below are just a few.
Remember that not one or two or three, or even ten studies are the be all, end all, but....it's important to check out those studies!
So here we go.
We are told that onions, and more specifically onion juice, can:
* Improve liver function
* Prevent and reduce signs of aging
* Prevent and reduce oxidative stress and the side effects of free radicals in our
environment
* Prevent or diminish obesity
* Prevent and diminish symptoms of diabetes
* Reduce overall inflammation
* Prevent heart attacks
* Protect the heart and even reverse conditions of the heart
* Protect and even reverse neurogenerative disease
* Prevent hair loss and even reverse symptoms of alopecia (seemingly permanent
hair loss)
* Improve the skin and eye sight
* Reduce symptoms of illness
* Help the body's own detox systems work more effectively during illness and
release
Onions are known to have the highest dietary source of quercetin, a natural flavonoid with evidence suggestion therapeutic potential such as prevention and treatment of different diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and neurogenerative diseases.
Onions also are largely composed of sulphur, a vital element that all living things require, being a component of proteins and other bio-organic substances.
So many people today take synthetic supplements (potentially with fillers and binding agents and/or preservatives) for these two plant constituents alone without realizing that they're much cheaper and potentially more potent in a simple herb like onion.
But don't believe me. As always, read these studies, and then read more. Ask some questions, and when you're ready, try things out for yourself.
