The Sun And You....Requires A Better Relationship?

The Sun And You....Requires A Better Relationship?

*Virtually every tissue in the body is thought to be regulated by vitamin D.

The only 'natural' way we can receive vitamin D is through ---- exposing our bodies to the sun.

Bare skin. Hat free head.

Yet the norm today seems to be: applying sunscreen to your face, body, and that of your children's bodies...before even stepping outside for the day.

Some tout vitamin D supplement as a replacement.

They say the sun is simply too dangerous, and humans have created a better solution.

Lathering the skin with sunscreen and taking the pill from the store.

Vitamin D as a synthetic vitamin....is fat soluble vitamin. Which means, it doesn't just get 'peed' out when your body has reached the maximum, like vitamin C might, for example.

It is not water soluble. It is fat soluble.

Is anyone out there regulating the side effects of synthetic vitamin D excess?

Is it a problem? Or is it not a problem?

Do we know all the ins and outs to synthetic vitamin D?

Is it really an equally effecient source of vitamin D?

Can the sun truly be replaced in a pill?

Some say sun exposure is great, but not 'too much'.

*As for what constitutes as excessive (or for the same argument, insufficient), there is no consensus, and like everything else, depends completely on the individual.

Skin color, type, age, burn rate....

So if no one knows exactly how much vitamin D you should be getting, how can anyone suggest how much synthetic vitamin D you should be taking?

Could it be that we have a built in indicator of 'maximum sun exposure for the day'?

What might be that indicator?

Is it worth trying to regain a closer relationship with the sun to try and figure that out?

Other things to consider:

Does the sun give us more than vitamin D? Necessary things we have yet to discover? Considering the fact that life on Earth would cease to exist without it...

I don't have the answers.

I can only make my own assumptions.

But oh the questions....they just keep a'comin!
